Root Canal Treatment-To Save Your Teeth

Earlier, a badly infected tooth, or one that just had significant decay, was doomed to be extracted. Today, the majority of these teeth can be salvaged by the Root Canal Specialist or the Endodontist.

When a tooth’s nerve tissue or pulp is damaged, it breaks down and bacteria begin to multiply within the pulp chamber. The bacteria and other decayed debris can cause an infection or abscessed Tooth. Severe pain, swelling, sensitivity to hot or cold, or a darkening tooth, are signs that a root canal problem exists.

Root Canal Treatment procedure is started by drilling the enamel part of the tooth, that is topmost portion of the tooth. First the Dentist enters the pulp chamber, where the infected pulp is present. The next step is exploration of root canal, removal of the remaining pulp tissue and infected tissue. The infected pulp is then drilled out and the root canal is disinfected with the help of intracanal medicament like essential oils (eugenol), phenolic compounds, Sodium Hypochlorite and iodides. Finally filling of root canal is done with an inert filling material called gutta percha.

Benefits of endodontic treatment?
Endodontic treatment saves teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted. Saving your natural teeth, if possible, is the best option. Occasionally a tooth cannot be saved. Endodontic treatment can be performed only if the root canals are accessible and can be adequately cleaned and sealed. The tooth must also have sufficient bone support.

Root Canal Treatment India

A root canal is a capillary, which runs from the base of the root of the tooth to the middle of the crown (the visible part of the tooth). The root canal carries the pulp (a network of blood and nerve cells), which brings the tooth to life.
The nerve of the tooth gets damaged due to many reasons. One of the main causes is cavity in the tooth that grows deeper and touches the nerve. Since the cavity is filled with bacteria, the root canal gets inflamed and causes pain. Other reasons that may damage the teeth are accidental cracks or infection from gums reaching to the base of roots. In such cases, root canal treatments can easily stabilize the position.
The best way to avoid root canals is to take good daily care of your teeth to prevent the growth and spread of bacteria. Brushing and flossing are important.
The main symptoms of root canal are:
1.Severe toothache
2.Presence of tenderness in your gums near a tooth
3.Pain and swelling in your gums near a tooth
4.A tooth that is partially or completely darkened following a trauma.

Treatment:
In this treatment, the affected tooth is wrapped in thin rubber (Called a 'rubber dam') to prevent contamination of the root canals. The decayed portions of the tooth and any affected filling are removed. The pulp or pulp remnants are extracted. The dentist uses a special drill and small instruments to thoroughly clean and shape the root canals and to remove bacteria, pus and debris. The root canals may need to be shaped or hollowed out to ensure a smooth interior surface. The interior of the tooth is flushed with disinfectants and then dried. If the root canal is not infection free, it may be medicated and the tooth sealed with a temporary filling material.
The root canal cost in India starts around $100 which is very cheap compared to other countries like US and UK where the price starts from $500.So you can save up to 70% percent of your money.

Dental Fillings Treatment India

Dental Fillings or Dental Restoration are a common and widely used treatment in modern dentistry. Dental fillings are typically made of dental amalgam, a metallic compound containing mercury that has been used for fillings for many decades. Fillings made of this amalgam are of a metallic hue and can give a grey tinge to the tooth.
i.e., Dental fillings are among the most common dental procedures and include fillings, inlays and onlays, veneers, implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures. They are used to restore damaged, decayed or missing teeth. They can also relieve associated dental pain. They can frequently save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
Tooth Preparation for Dental Fillings
Dental restorations can be divided into two broad types:
*) Direct restorations: This technique involves placing a soft or malleable filling into the prepared tooth and building up the tooth before the material sets hard.
*) Indirect restorations: This technique of fabricating the restoration outside of the mouth using the dental impressions of the prepared tooth.
All dental restorations can be further classified by their location and size. A root canal filling is a restorative technique used to fill the space where the dental pulp normally resides.
The process of preparation usually involves cutting the tooth with special dental burrs, to make space for the planned restorative materials, and to remove any dental decay or portions of the tooth that are structurally unsound. If permanent restoration can not be carried out immediately after tooth preparation, temporary restoration may be performed.
The prepared tooth, ready for placement of restorative materials, is generally called a tooth preparation. Materials used may be gold, amalgam, dental composites, resin-reinforced glass ionomers, porcelain or any number of other materials.
In India the cost for Dental Fillings starts around $250 which is very cheap compared to other countries like US and UK where the price starts around $850.
